Officer accuses driver of attempted bribery

Published: November 16. 2012 4:00AM PST

CORVALLIS — Corvallis police arrested a motorist accused of trying to bribe an officer.

Lt. Todd Bailey says 40-year-old Brian Henshaw of Albany was pulled over Wednesday morning for failing to obey a stop sign. He allegedly offered the officer money to avoid a ticket, even though he was told the traffic stop was being recorded via audio and video.

Bailey declined to say how much money Henshaw allegedly offered the officer. Running a stop sign carries a fine of $260, and Bailey says the offer was “significantly less" than that amount.

Henshaw was arrested at work later in the day. He was booked into the Benton County Jail on a felony charge of bribe giving.
