Rock out, do good at Chicks with Picks

Published: November 09. 2012 4:00AM PST

It’s time for the third annual Chicks with Picks fundraiser!

This event is becoming one of the highlights of Bend’s autumn music scene, and it’s just what it sounds like: Female-fronted bands getting together and rocking out for a good cause.

In this case, the cause is Saving Grace, a local organization that “provides comprehensive family violence and sexual assault services and promotes the value of living life free from violence," according to its website.

And this year, the lineup includes four local acts in which women take a lead role in the rocking out. They’ll play in this order:

• World-beat-folk-pop multi-instrumentalist Shireen Amini (6-6:45 p.m.)

• Brainy alt-pop band The Dream Symphony (7-7:45 p.m.)

• Soulful rockers Jaccuzi (8-8:45 p.m.)

• Last Band Standing champions Broken Down Guitars (9-10 p.m.)

Good rock, good cause. Be there.

Chicks with Picks; 6 p.m. Thursday; $5; The Summit Saloon & Stage, 125 N.W. Oregon Ave., Bend; 971-570-7199.
