Harriett E. Fitzgerald, 82, passed away, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, in Portland, Oregon, after a long battle with leukemia.

Harriett was born, Harriett Edna Gregg, in Sacramento, California, on January 25, 1930, and was the only child of the late Harry and Dorothy Gregg. She graduated from Mt. Shasta High School in 1947, and soon after married Arthur Henry Fitzgerald, on June 29, 1947. Art, who was the love of her life, passed away in 2006, leaving Harriett with loving memories of their 58 years of marriage.

Harriett and Art moved to Prineville in the early 1960s and were long time members of the First Baptist Church of Prineville, and supporters of the Central Oregon Opportunity Center. Harriett was actively involved in the Christian Womens Club for decades and shared her love of the Lord with many young women, mothers and friends through her fellowship with others in this organization. Art and Harriett spent many happy years sharing adventures and friendships with the X.Y.Z. Group (Extra Years of Zest) in Prineville.

Harriett may best be remembered as the ultimate hostess, the coffee pot was always on, one could always find an extra plate at the table, an extra pillow and blanket for guests and family. Those who knew Harriett, will remember her gift of hospitality, welcoming you into her home, in a way that made you feel like she had been waiting for you to stop by.

Harriett leaves loving memories to be cherished by her four children, Guy Fitzgerald of Fernandina, Florida, Susan Wagaman of Depew, New York, Gerri Badden of Portland, Oregon and Cynthia Costanzo of Alamo, California. Additionally, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a large number of extended family who loved Harriett and considered her Mom, will cherish memories of her generous love and spirit.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at the Ochoco Creek Park, in Prineville, Oregon, on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at a casual potluck, while celebrating Harrietts life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harrietts name to Expressions Education and Training Program, Summerplace Assisted Living, 15727 NE Russell St., Portland, OR 97230.
