Dorothy Kellogg, 96, died at Wind River Rehabilitation Center in Riverton, on October 16, 2012. She currently resided at Homestead Assisted living in Riverton, WY.
Dorothy Bertha Shedd was born June 27, 1916 in Norwich, CT, to Martin E. and Bertha (White) Shedd. She moved from Rhode island to Bend, OR with her parents in 1921. After a short stay in Bend, Dorothy and her parents moved around the West Coast in California and Oregon. In 1939, she married William Moffitt (Bill) Kellogg in Eugene, OR. They moved to Burbank, CA during WWII, where they both worked for Lockheed Aircraft Company. Their only son, David was born in Glendale, CA in 1943. They returned to Bend in 1946 and remained until 1967. Dorothy worked for Central Oregon Community College from its beginning and was assistant to the founding president of the College, Dr. Don Pence.
Dorothy and her husband, Bill, moved from Bend to Eugene, OR, in 1967, where she worked for Lane County Community College. She retired from LCCC in 1980 and in 1989, and she and Bill moved to Waldport, OR, fulfilling their lifelong dream to live on the Oregon Coast.
Bill died in 1995, and in 2008, she moved to Riverton, WY, into an assisted living facility, and to be nearer her son, David.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sisters, Marion Shepard and Elizabeth Denham Penrod. She is survived by her son, David, and wife, Carol, of Lander, WY; two grandchildren, Julia Kellogg of Bondurant, WY and Abbey Smith of Jackson, WY; four great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, no services will be conducted. She will be cremated and buried next to her husband, Bill, in Scotts Mills, Oregon.
