Born February 1938, died October 2012. He was 74 years old. He was a Redmond, OR, resident of 40 years. After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed peacefully with his family at his bedside in Redmond, OR. He was born to Samuel G. Walker and Hazel C. Wendt in LaGrande, OR. He was the oldest of three children.
He attended LaGrande High School in LaGrande, OR, graduating in 1956. He served in the Army National Guard until 1964, while attending college. He received his masters degree from Eastern Oregon College in teaching. He taught math and chemistry at The Dalles High School, physics at Eastern Oregon College, and math and Science at Redmond High School during his 30 year career. He retired in 1991.
He met and married the love of his life, Carma J. Panter (Walker) in 1960. They raised four children. They enjoyed a marriage of 52 years.
He will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Carma; his siblings, Fredric Walker of Weed, CA, Judith Perrin, of Springfield, MO; his children, Douglas Walker, Becky and Matthew Nelson, Kenneth and Andrea Walker, Michael and Shylo Walker, all of Central Oregon; 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
A celebration of his life is planned for Monday, October 29, public viewing at 10:00 a.m., service begins at 11:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Rimrock Way, Redmond, OR. Graveside services will be at the Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.
Autumn Funerals will be in charge of services. Flower arrangements will be provided by, The Lady Bug Florist in Redmond, OR.
