Speaking of bands with local ties (which we were in that Adventure Galley brief, in case you didn’t read it), The Horned Hand will host two such bands tonight.
One should be familiar to you, and the other, maybe not. First, the former: The Autonomics will co-headline tonight, bringing their Bend-bred but now Portland-based blues-punk-rock back to town. Expect sweaty hair and melted faces across the room.
Now normally, the Autos are the loudest band in the room, but that may not be the case tonight since they’re joined by Portland’s Black Pussy, a chugging, ominous orb of bluesy, syrupy stoner rock that sounds like it was imported straight from the heavy, drug-hazy 1970s.
The band currently includes former Bendites Keith O’Dell (ex-Empty Space Orchestra) and Aaron Poplin (ex-Dirty Words), but the frontman is Dustin Hill, who, according to Facebook, receives songs from “the umbilical chord of the universe attaching itself to me (with lots of weed)."
That this show is happening at The Horned Hand is just perfect. Get those horns ready, folks.
The Autonomics, with Black Pussy; 8 tonight; $5; The Horned Hand, 507 N.W. Colorado Ave., Bend; www.reverbnation .com/venue/thehornedhand.
