Deschutes County Sheriff's deputies are searching this afternoon for a man who led them on a car chase that ended in Redmond.
The man was reported speeding on U.S. Highway 97 just after 10 a.m., said Sgt. Vance Lawrence of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office. When a deputy tried to pull the man over he gave chase.
He crashed his car in Redmond near the Best Western Plus Rama Inn at 2630 S.W. 17th Pl, then ran from the car, Lawrence said. The search for the man was ongoing as of 12:45 p.m.
A description of the man was not immediately available, Lawrence said. Deputies determined the car was stolen in California.
