A tree planting event that will help restore the Pole Creek Fire area is in need of volunteers.
The restoration event will take place Oct. 20, and is being hosted by the National Forest Foundation, the U.S. Forest Service and REI Bend. Volunteers at the event will plant more than 1,000 plants on the perimeter of the Pole Creek Fire near Whychus Creek.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Creekside Park at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and U.S. Highway 20 in Sisters. Groups will then carpool together to the project site. The event will finish by 2 p.m.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate.
