PORTLAND — A Portland neurosurgeon accused of negligence reached a deal with the Oregon Medical Board in which he agreed to leave medicine.
The Oregonian reported Thursday that V. James Makker still faces more than two dozen lawsuits, many involving spinal surgeries that were allegedly unnecessary and left patients with complications.
Makker has denied wrongdoing, but signed the agreement with the board on Sept. 24.
The board action includes a finding of repeated negligence and improper conduct, and will be reported to other state medical boards.
