Bend artist Rod Frederick’s painting of a kit fox in the desert has won the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Habitat Conservation Stamp Art Contest.

Frederick has earned a $3,000 prize, and his painting will be used for a 2013 collector stamp along with other promotional items benefitting Oregon’s native species and habitats.

Judges selected Frederick’s painting over 46 other entries, each depicting a state mammal identified in the Oregon Conservation and Nearshore strategies.
