Salem school bus involved in crash

Published: October 11. 2012 4:00AM PST

SALEM — Authorities say a bus carrying 48 students to a Salem elementary school struck the back of a Honda.

Marion County sheriff’s spokesman Don Thomson says nobody on the bus was hurt in Wednesday’s crash and the Honda driver also escaped injury.

Thomson says the preliminary investigation shows the vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the Honda slowed behind another school bus that was turning left.

The driver of the second bus told the investigating officer he saw the Honda slow in front of him, but couldn’t stop before hitting it.

Thompson says skid marks show the bus driver did apply the brakes.

Both vehicles sustained damage.
