Ray A. Swanson, 76, died on October 4, 2012, at his home in LaPine, Oregon. A private memorial service will be held with family and friends at 2 p.m. on October 13, at Baird Memorial Chapel in LaPine.

Ray was born May 1st, 1936, in Marlborough, Massachusetts to Milton and Edna Swanson. He earned his bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of Massachusetts and worked as an operations superintendent at the Desert Water Agency until 1995.

Ray was a beloved husband, father and grandfather; married 36 years to his loving wife, Laurie. They made their home in LaPine, Oregon, where he enjoyed photography, travelling in his RV, and spending time with his family. Ray will be remembered by family and friends for his devotion to animals, fun loving antics, and lively sense of humour. He will be dearly missed.

Ray is survived by his wife, Laurie; three sons and their spouses, Scott and Mickey, Steven andLaurie, and Glenn; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa, Casey, Kelsey, Eric, Desaray, Tyler, and Kyle.

Donations may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Central Oregon.
