The Bend Fire Department has scheduled an open house Saturday at the North Fire Station as part of National Fire Prevention Week.
The family-friendly event is free and will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the station, 63377 Jamison St.
The public will be invited to meet local firefighters, tour the station, climb aboard a fire engine and watch a Bend police K-9 demonstration, among other activities.
National Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
This year’s theme is “Two Ways Out," and is meant to remind residents about the importance of having home escape plans in case of fire.
