At 2 p.m. Sunday, novelist and essayist Marjorie Sandor, whose prose has been described as “tangy and luscious as just-plucked fruit," will read at the Downtown Bend Public Library, 601 N.W. Wall St.
According to library staff, Wordstock, that large literary event being held next weekend in Portland, presented a scheduling conflict for Sandor and the library, so they moved her appearance up a week. There will be no Second Sunday event on the actual second Sunday of the month (Oct. 14).
Sandor’s four books include the memoir “The Late Interiors: A Life Under Construction," and “Portrait of my Mother, Who Posed Nude in Wartime: Stories," which won the 2004 National Jewish Book Award in Fiction. Sandor teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program in Creative Writing at Oregon State University in Corvallis, and her writing has also appeared in journals such as The Georgia Review, AGNI and TriQuarterly.
Sandor’s books will be available for sale, and an open mic will follow her reading, which is free.
