• Marlins 4, Mets 3: MIAMI — New York Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey struck out one-shot wonder Adam Greenberg (see Sports in Brief, D2), but also gave up two homers in his final start of a Cy Young-hopeful season as New York lost to Miami.
• Nationals 4, Phillies 2: WASHINGTON — Adam LaRoche hit his career-high 33rd homer as NL East champion Washington beat Philadelphia.
• Pirates 5, Braves 1: PITTSBURGH — Kevin Correia pitched effectively into the seventh inning, Garrett Jones homered and Pittsburgh beat Atlanta.
• Astros 3, Cubs 0: CHICAGO — Bud Norris pitched six shutout innings, Jason Castro homered and Houston beat Chicago in a matchup of 100-loss teams.
• Brewers 4, Padres 3: MILWAUKEE — Rookie Martin Maldonado hit a grand slam and Milwaukee used 10 newcomers in beating San Diego.
• Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 3: PHOENIX — Aaron Hill hit a game-winning three-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning to lift Arizona past Colorado.
