She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Edward Leer, Jr., and a sister, Shirley Mahr.

Her life was filled with family, friends, and adventure. Dorothy never missed an opportunity to travel with the ones she loved. Though she spent much of her adult life as a citizen of the world, she chose to make Texas her home.

Dorothy was known throughout the Hill Country as a generous spirit and a friend to all. She graced family and friends around the world with love expressed through handwritten correspondence. Dorothy extended a caring hand to anyone in need. Her tenacity and love of life was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Any community of which Dorothy was a part benefited from her giving spirit. Dorothy was devoted to her church, St. Boniface, in Comfort, TX, and to P.E.O. Her love and light will be missed, but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life was held in Comfort, TX. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Episcopal Church designated for "Dorothys Garden", P.E.O. Foundation Continuing Education Program, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312, or the charity of ones choice.
