ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Redmond’s Steven Peebles captured the bareback title Monday at the 2012 Ellensburg Rodeo, where the 23-year-old cowboy earned more than $5,300.
Peebles, coming back this season from a fractured fibula suffered last December in the National Finals Rodeo, won the final in Ellensburg with a score of 89 points, a ride worth $1,650. And with 170 points on two head for the rodeo, Peebles won the average for another $3,668.
In a bareback field loaded with Central Oregon riders, Terrebonne’s Austin Foss finished second in both the finals ($1,250) and the average ($2,812) for earnings of more than $4,000.
Culver’s Brian Bain placed fourth in the bareback finals and tied for fourth in the average for winnings of $1,700. And Bobby Mote, also of Culver, placed seventh in the average — he tied for first place in the first round with a score of 83 points that was good for $3,240.
