Sept. 30, 1923 - June 15, 2012

Marian Else Wolfe of Powell Butte, OR, died of complications of congestive heart failure on Friday, June 15, 2012, at the age of 88.

Marian was born September 30, 1923, in Minneapolis, MN to Thorbgorn and Martha (Blegen) Kommedahl. She grew up and graduated high school in Minnesota before she moved to Cheyenne, WY, where she worked for United Airlines as a radio operator. In 1944, she moved to Denver, CO, to join the US Cadet Nurses Corps as nurses were needed for the war effort. She met the love of her life, Fred Wolfe, at a dance at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver and they married on July 19, 1947. After training with the Nurse Corps, Marian worked as an RN at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver until her retirement. After 52 years of marriage, her husband, Fred passed away on July 5, 2000, and in 2002, Marian moved to Yreka, CA, where she lived until moving to Powell Butte in August of 2010. While living in Yreka, she was an active volunteer with the Yreka library and was a devoted volunteer at Fairchild Medical Center. After moving to Oregon, she became a member of the Bend First United Methodist Church and she thoroughly enjoyed Central Oregon. Marian loved walking, camping and having breakfast in the mountains. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all kinds of music; she played the piccolo in her high school band. The last few months of her life, Marian spent at Brookside Place in Redmond, OR, she really enjoyed and appreciated the loving care of the staff and her family is thankful for that.

Marian is survived by a daughter, Christine (Mike) Waller of Powell Butte, OR; daughter, Charlotte (Jack) Fishburn of Golden, CO; son, Fred (Madeleine) Wolfe of Camas, WA; son, Sam Wolfe of Sandy, UT; three grandchildren, Alex, Aaron and Spencer; and her older siblings, Thor and Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Fred; daughter, Ellen; siblings, Clifford and Vivian; and her parents.
