Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Published: May 01. 2012 4:00AM PST

Les Schwab Amphitheater (344 S.W. Shevlin Hixon Drive, Bend) will celebrate Latin culture and Cinco de Mayo on Saturday.

The amphitheater, teamed with Central Oregon Latino Partnership Program, created Festival de Banderas, a family-friendly event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will include music, children’s activities, vendors, artists, food, costumes, dancers and a chef’s competition.

At 5 p.m., a party will feature a concert by the power-salsa group Expresiòn Latina and rock band Hacidenda.

After 7 p.m., the Cinco de Mayo party will be open to 21 and older.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at The Ticket Mill (541-318-5457) and Amalia’s Mexican Restaurant (541-382-3244) in Bend. Children 17 and younger get in free. Tickets are good for both events, and proceeds will support the Central Oregon Latino Scholarship Fund.
