Sandra Kay Klein of Bend, OR, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 73, on March 17, 2012, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was born in Vernonia, OR, on April 17, 1938, to Fred Roger and Julia Elizabeth (Lowe) Henderson. Sandra grew up in Toledo, OR, and graduated from Toledo High School. Sandra moved to Bend, OR, with her husband Elmer McGraw whom she was married to for 16 years. At a later date she was married to David Klein.
Sandra worked as a waitress at the China Ranch and at Elmer's Pancake House for many years and then became a hairdresser.
Sandra had a very adventurous spirit and enjoyed camping, fishing, rodeos, dancing, music, reading, but most of all she cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sandra had deep faith in Jesus and she had deep compassion for the homeless and those in need. Sandra volunteered at Juniper Grade School in the Grandma's Reading Program and enjoyed helping the children read and taught them how to knit. Sandra also had a great sense of humor and she loved British comedy.
Sandra is survived by one brother, Ferrell True; and two cousins, Deanna Dee Dee Dirks and Dick Dicky Lowe. Her seven children, Kim McGraw McClain and (Pat), Judi McGraw Norris and (Tom), Brett McGraw and (Lorraine), Brad McGraw and (Cyndi), Tina McGraw Roberts and (Russ), Tara McGraw Luis, and Jessica Klein Taylor and (Sean); 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A celebration of her life will be held April 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Niswonger-Reynolds, 105 NW Irving Avenue, Bend, OR.
