We love it when musicians with local ties go off into the world and then, next thing you know, word comes back that they're in some other place making both sounds and waves.

This week, The Brocks fit that description. Three out of five members of the Provo, Utah-based pop-rock band graduated from Bend High School: Dane Brock, Grant Brock and Matthew Woodland. And word on the street (OK, our email inbox, actually) is that they're taking the Provo scene by storm!

I don't know much about Provo's scene, but it doesn't take a finely tuned ear to hear that The Brocks could woo just about any town. The band's sound is big and bold, splashed with hooky guitar riffs and vibrant melodies that will probably stick around your brain for a good long while.

They sound like Snow Patrol, or a rawer, slightly more extroverted Coldplay, a pretty impressive feat for a band that's been together only since January. And someone at Park City Television said they could “totally see The Brocks becoming the next Neon Trees.” I don't know what Neon Trees sounds like, but if you do, then that will definitely mean something to you.

But hey, you don't have to listen to me or Park City Television. You can listen to The Brocks yourself: http://www.reverbnation.com/thebrocks.
