Bend gets plenty of rock, hip-hop and roots music, but it’s not often we get an honest-to-goodness dance-punk band in town.
On Saturday, though, Seattle’s The Redwood Plan will stop at Players Bar & Grill, bringing with them a nifty blend of insistent beats, rubbery bass lines, sharp guitar riffs and Lesli Wood’s urgent vocals. It’s that last ingredient in particular that draws the band comparisons to Portland’s dance-punk superstars The Gossip.
The Redwood Plan has been doing very well in its hometown, charting high at the popular KEXP radio station and prompting raves from the local cognoscenti. After all, everyone loves a party, and as the band’s MySpace declares, “We’re a party, and you’re invited.”
