Edison Sno-park's warming shelter is an ideal spot for rest and warmth on the cold snowshoe trail.

Edison Sno-park is a great place to snowshoe, offering an interesting, varied loop trail across lava fields and through forests of ponderosa pines. Visitors can also check out a cool lava tube and walk to the cozy Edison snow shelter.

If you go

Getting there: From Bend, head west on Century Drive for 18 miles. Turn left at the turnoff for Sunriver. Follow the road and watch for Edison Sno-Park on the right hand

side of the road, about five miles.

Difficulty: Moderate

Length: Varies

Cost: Sno-park permit required. Cost is $20 for an annual pass, $7 for a three-day permit or $3 for a day pass. Passes are available at the Department of Motor

Vehicles, resorts, sporting goods stores and other retail outlets.
