Sports, music collide at Players, Midtown

Published: December 11. 2009 4:00AM PST

Two sports-related shows are happening this week in Bend. So strap on your ski goggles and go wreak havoc in the mosh pit! Or something like that.

• This evening is the annual rail jam in the parking lot of Skjersaa’s Sport Shop in Bend, and the after-party is within stumbling distance at Players Bar & Grill (25 S.W. Century Drive, Bend), where two fine melodic punk bands, Tuck and Roll and The Extorted , will keep things hopping into the wee hours. It’s free and will start around 9 p.m.

• The Cyclo-cross National Championships are in town as we speak — it’s a bike thing — and there’s a big, associated party happening at the Midtown Ballroom (51 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend) tonight at 6. You don’t have to be a participant to attend, and if you go, you’ll get to see local rockers The Dirty Words , local MC Mosley Wotta and The Sprockettes , an all-girl synchronized mini-bike dance troupe from Portland. Sweet, right? Even sweeter: Door prizes, a slide show of the races and there’s no cover.
