Local bluegrassers out and about in Bend

A couple of Bend-based string bands will gig this week:

• Big Pine & The Pitchtones will celebrate the addition of fiddler Jo Booser to their lineup with a show Saturday night at The Annex (51 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend). The Pitchtones are eclectic veterans of the local scene, mixing folk, swing, Cajun and cowboy music into their ’grass. They’ll get going at 8 p.m., and cover is $5.

• When Blackstrap shows up, instruments in hand, you know it’s going to be a good time. Long one of Bend’s hardest driving acoustic outfits, the Blackstrap boys will again descend upon Silver Moon Brewing & Taproom (24 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend) on Thursday to show off their smokin’ string-bending prowess. Start time is 7 p.m., cover is $5, and the Dela Project will open.
