Two Bend men are opening a new restaurant, Versante Pizza, in the former Zydeco Kitchen and Cocktails location, at 1085 S.E. Third St., near Reed Market Road.
The business partners hope to open by mid-December, but work on the restaurant could delay the opening, said co-owner David Johnson. He and Jon Sargent plan to serve pizza with cornmeal crust, various pasta dishes, oven-baked sub sandwiches and other dishes. They also have applied for a permit from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission to serve beer and wine.
Johnson said they want the restaurant to accommodate a family with children, as well as a couple on a date. Johnson owns another restaurant, Fultano’s Pizza, in Cannon Beach. Sargent has experience as a contractor and in retail, Johnson said.
