LANTANA, Texas — Brian Miller has advanced to the second of three stages of the PGA Tour’s National Qualifying School.
Miller, a professional golfer and former Madras High School standout, finished in a tie for 20th place over the weekend at 7 under par at Lantana Golf Club, one of 13 72-hole, first-stage Q-School sites across the country. The 29-year-old Miller was one stroke better than a five-way tie for 22nd place, the cut line to advance to the second stage.
But Miller’s work to earn status on the 2010 PGA Tour has only begun. Golfers must survive 252 holes over three stages to earn full-time playing privileges on the big tour.
The 72-hole second stage is scheduled to be held Nov. 18-21 at six sites in four states. Golfers who advance through that stage earn their way into the 108-hole final stage, Dec. 2-7 at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Golfers who reach the final stage earn at least partial status on the Nationwide Tour, the PGA Tour’s main developmental circuit, as well as the opportunity to be among the few who will earn a PGA Tour card.
