Barbara F. Collison Brown
May 24, 1927 - October 28, 2009
A Celebration of Life for Barbara F. Brown, a resident of Bend since 1956, will be held Monday, November 2, 2009, at 2:00 pm, at the First United Methodist Church, 680 N.W. Bond Street. Mrs. Brown was born May 24, 1927, in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Maxine (Blackwood) Collison.
During her working career, she was a marketing representative for Pacific Northwest Bell.
Barbara loved cooking and entertaining. She was famous for her breads, pies and Christmas rolls. Barbara was a very active volunteer and believed in giving back to the community. She was a very active member and sang in the choir of the First United Methodist Church for many years.
Barbara was on the Board of Directors of the Deschutes Historical Society, past president of the Telephone Pioneers, board member of the Bend Senior Center and very instrumental in getting it built. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon D. Brown, whom she married on May 6, 1949, in Eugene, Oregon.
She is survived by three sons, Douglas C. Brown of Silverton, Greg Brown of Sisters and Eric and his wife, Debra Brown of Bend. There are also three grandchildren, Kevin, Lindsey and Rob; and two brothers, Bob and Brooke Collison.
