Bend church hosts Agnew, Building 429

Published: October 30. 2009 4:00AM PST

If you feel like your soul needs cleansing after the ghosts, goblins, devils and demons of Halloween, there’s a double-bill of well-known Christian artists coming to Bend on Sunday.

The Promise Remains Tour features co-headliners Building 429 and Todd Agnew, two hitmakers in the Christian music industry who’ve both played in town before.

Agnew’s most distinctive quality is his voice, a sonorous instrument that has been heard regularly on Christian radio for years thanks to hits like “Grace Like Rain,” “Our Great God” and “My Jesus.” He’s currently touring behind his newest album, “Need.”

Whereas Agnew writes slow-burning folk-rock songs, Building 429 specializes in the kind of grand pop music that’s embodied in their breakthrough hit, “Glory Defined,” the success of which prompted the Gospel Music Association to name the band its Best New Artist in 2005.

Todd Agnew, Building 429 and Kimber Rising ; 7:30 p.m. Sunday; $15 advance, $20 day of show, $13 for groups of 15 or more; Christian Life Center, 21720 E. U.S. Highway 20, Bend; 541-389-8241 or www.clcbend.com.
