Last modified: October 26. 2009 2:53PM PST

PORTLAND -- It is finally official.

After more than a year of meetings and public testimony, the Oregon

School Activities Association today finalized its league alignments for

high school athletics for the next four-year time block at the OSAA's

executive board meeting in Portland.

Starting with the 2010-11 school year, Central Oregon high schools

Redmond, Bend, Mountain View, Summit and Crook County will make up a

five-team "hybrid" league. Redmond will remain a Class 6A school, the

three Bend schools will stay at 5A, and Crook County will compete as a

4A school.

Madras -- which is currently a member of the Class 5A Intermountain

Conference with Bend, Mountain View, Summit, Crook County, The

Dalles-Wahtonka, Pendleton and Hermiston -- will move to Class 4A and

compete in the newly created Tri-Valley Conference with Estacada,

Gladstone, La Salle, Mollala and North Marion.

Sisters and La Pine will remain in the 4A Sky-Em League with current

Sky-Em schools Cottage Grove, Elmira and Junction City and soon-to-be

member Sweet Home.

Regarding other Central Oregon high schools, Culver stays put in the

Class 2A Tri-River Conference, Gilchrist will continue to compete in the

Class 1A Mountain Valley League, and Central Christian will stay in the

1A Big Sky League.
