Ronald Alton Reid of Bend, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born December 11, 1929, in The Dalles, Oregon, the second eldest of John and Mabel Reid's four sons. He grew up in Shaniko, Maupin, and Monmouth, Oregon. He met his wife, Alta while attending Oregon College of Education, now Western Oregon University, in Monmouth, Oregon. They made Central Oregon their home and together raised five children: Lori Robinson, Lani Davidson, Alton Reid, Arleita Gillaspy and Avery Reid.
Ron served children and various communities throughout Central Oregon for over 35 years as a public school teacher and administrator. An avid outdoorsman, Ron treasured his time with various family members hunting, fishing, and camping throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
He is survived by Alta Reid, his wife of 56 years, as well as all five of his children, nine grandchildren and his youngest brother, Gary.
No service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorials in Ron's name be given to Partners In Care Hospice, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct, Bend, OR, 97701.
