Earth to Planet Loop. Come in, Planet Loop.

That little descriptor section of MySpace band profiles can be a wild ride.

Sometimes a metal band will list “Tropical” or “Two-step” among its genres. Occasionally you’ll see a folk singer described as “Crunk.” Artists are wacky!

For the Berkeley, Calif., duo Planet Loop, though, “Nu-Jazz/Afro-beat/Live Electronics” sounds about right. The band is jazzy, but in a nu way. There are certainly global rhythms happening here. And it all has a very synthesized-yet-organic feel.

The band will bring a cool, urban club vibe to Silver Moon Brewing on Saturday, and Bend’s own electro-chill dudes the Thumbprint Collective will open, making for a groovy, groovy night.

Planet Loop, with Thumbprint Collective ; 9 p.m. Saturday; $5; Silver Moon Brewing & Taproom, 24 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend; 541-388-8331 or www.myspace.com/musicsilvermoon.
