The weather’s turning chilly, and you know what that means: skiing and snowboarding. And the return of Sweatshop Union.
The Canadian hip-hop collective has made a living over the past several years by touring like crazy and not ignoring medium-sized towns in the West, particularly those with a snow-riding culture. For one reason or another, skiers and boarders seem to gravitate toward the group. Maybe it’s Sweatshop Union’s socially responsible rhymes. Or their slick beats. Or their hoodies.
Regardless, the Union is touring behind its year-old album “Water Street,” which www .hiphopdx.com called a “sophisticated marriage of suburban swagger with post-modern angst.” Hear them for yourself at www.sweatshopunion.com.
