Monsignor Matthew Michael Crotty

Born in The Rower, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Died in Bend, Oregon.
He was the son of Matthew and Mary (Murphy) Crotty, and
was educated at St. Kierans, Kilkenny, Ireland.
He was ordained to the priesthood for the Catholic Diocese of Baker in Oregon (Central and Eastern Oregon) on January 30, 1944.
Upon arrival in the United States, he continued his education at Catholic University, Washington, D.C., where he received his Doctorate in Canon Law.
He served in various parishes: St. Francis de Sales, Baker City; Our Lady of the Valley, La Grande; St. Marys, Pendleton; St. Joseph, Prineville; St. Pius X, Klamath Falls; St. Patricks, Madras; and St. Alphonsus, Dufur.
He was the Judicial Vicar for the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal; Dean of Central Deanery; Senate of Priests; Personal board; and other Diocesan Committees.
He was acting Vicar General at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, A.J. and Jack. He is survived by three sisters, Peggy, Nessa and Phil.
