Domino Room hosts big hip-hop show

Published: September 18. 2009 4:00AM PST

Sometimes it feels like the glory days of West Coast gangster rap passed with the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie and the fall of Death Row Records.

But there are still rappers out there doing the thing that made those guys huge. Take Mr. Capone-E, a Los Angeles-based hip-hop artist whose new album, “Diary of a G,” features guest appearances by big names like Snoop Dogg and The Game.

Capone-E’s songs are gangster rap updated for 2009, with street tales filling the verses and the hooks delivered through the hip-hop tool du jour, Auto-Tune. You can check him out for yourself at www.myspace.com/mrcaponeetherealcom, or at the Domino Room on Tuesday night with Mr. Criminal and a slew of other acts.

Mr. Capone-E and Mr. Criminal, with Miss Lady Pinks, Malow Mac, Crazy Boy, Tweety and more ; 8 p.m. Tuesday, doors open 7 p.m.; $20 in advance at Ranch Records (541-389-6116), $25 at the door; Domino Room, 51 N.W. Greenwood Ave., Bend; www.myspace .com/dbanksproductions.
