Judith "Judy" (Babb) Carbaugh
Sept. 20, 1934 - August 19, 2009
Judith "Judy" (Babb) Carbaugh passed away August 19, 2009, at the age of 74. She had suffered with Parkinsons Disease and its complications for many years.
Judy was born September 20, 1934, in Eugene to Belden and Isobel (Hawkinson) Babb. She graduated from Eugene High School and went on to graduate from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Throughout Judy's early years she raised and showed American Saddle Horses. She competed in many horse shows up and down the west coast accumulating numerous awards and prizes. She later taught several students in competing with the American Saddle Horse.
Judy married Walter "Stan" Carbaugh on February 22, 1955, and settled in Corvallis. They had three sons during those years in Corvallis and were active in Jaycees.
Judy and family moved to Neskowin in 1963, where they owned and operated the Neskowin Beach Golf Course. Judy was involved with the Nesko Club, Lady Elks and the American Cancer Society.
Judy moved to the Bend area in 1978, and actively volunteered with the Cascade Music Festival and various theatre groups. She also resumed working with young riders and their horses. She remained in Bend until moving to McMinnville to be closer to her sons during the decline of her health.
Judy was preceded in death by her youngest son, Edward "Alan" Carbaugh, in 1982, and Stan Carbaugh in 1992. She is survived by her sons, Paul Carbaugh of Cloverdale, and Mark Carbaugh of Clackamas; and her brother, Ray Babb of Bend. She has six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as dear friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by all.
