August 29, 1921 - July 31, 2009

Eleanor Shank Clore of 53918 E. Appleton Rd., Milton-Freewater, Oregon and formerly of Athena, Oregon passed away July 31, 2009, at her home at the age of 87 years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 11:00 am, at the Athena Baptist Church in Athena, Oregon.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Eleanor Shank Clore to the Athena Library, in care of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon 97862.

Eleanor Shank Clore was born on August 29, 1921, in La Grande, Oregon, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Selder) Chandler.

She graduated from High School in Condon, Oregon in 1939, and attended college in La Grande. She spent 2 1/2 years in the T.B. Hospital in The Dalles, Oregon and that was where she met her first husband, Kenneth Shank.

The couple moved to Bend, Oregon where they raised three children and owned a jewelry store for 30 years.

Kenneth preceded her in death and Eleanor later married Wendell Clore and the couple moved to Athena, Oregon.

Eleanor was active in the church and loved to sing. She loved people and did much to care for all she came in contact with. Eleanor was cherished by her children and grandchildren and bathed them in love and generosity.

Survivors include her husband, Wendell Clore of Athena, Oregon; children, Ruth Rich and Lloyd Shank of Athena, Oregon and William "Bill" Shank of Pendleton, Oregon; brother, Charles Russell Chandler of Salem, Oregon and seven grandchildren. Her parents and husband, Kenneth Shank all preceded her in death.
