You’ve got to love the collaborative spirit within Bend’s hip-hop scene.
Take Mosley Wotta and Cloaked Characters. The two acts have worked together before, on the track “Cuckoo’s Nest” from the Characters’ most recent album, “ZonkedOut Tantrum.”
On Saturday night, they’ll team up again to drop an eight-track CD as a special, limited-edition release just for Bendistillery Martini Bar’s Fourth of July party. The CD will feature four tracks from MoWo and four from CCZ (as they’re known), and it’s a prequel to full albums from both artists, coming sometime soon (fingers crossed).
Check the Frequency blog (at www.bendbulletin.com/frequency) to download one track from each.
As for the party, it’s an all-day shindig. From 1 to 5 p.m., the plaza outside the bar will host music by Mark Ransom, Brad Jones, Joanna Lee, Leif James, The Dirty Words and DJs Barisone and Mud.
At 10 p.m., the party will move inside for performances by Cloaked Characters, Mosley Wotta, Top Shelf, Defekt-N-Jones and DJ Ells.
Of course, the lineup is subject to change a bit, and you never know what special guests might show up — in the spirit of collaboration.
