Get ready for the farmers markets

If the winter season has left you craving fresh-cut flowers and locally grown fruits and vegetables, you will soon be in luck. Many local farmers markets will open soon or already have. Here is a list of the markets planned throughout Central Oregon.

Bend

Bend Farmers Market - Wednesdays

When: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, June 3 through Oct. 14.

Where: Mirror Pond Park, eastern end of Drake Park in downtown Bend.

Market details: 32 vendors selling produce, baked goods, cheese, natural meat products, seafood, coffee, cut flowers.

When: 2 to 6 p.m. Fridays, June 5 through Sept. 25

NorthWest Crossing Saturday Farmers Market

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, June 27 through Sept. 12

Where: Mt. Washington and NorthWest Crossing drives, Bend

Market details: 20-25 vendors selling produce fruits, cheeses, organic products, gourmet foods, organic skin care, lavender and herbs.

Madras Saturday Market

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, June 6 through Sept. 12 (no market July 25).

Where: Sahalee Park, Seventh and C streets, Madras.

Market details: Approximately 30 vendors selling produce, meat, cut flowers, outdoor furniture, basket weaving, jewelry, arts and crafts.

Extras: Live music, food vendors, coffee roaster (also vending coffee) and theme days, including kids day, fiber arts day and astronomy day.
