‘I have the weirdest career in the world,” Fred Eaglesmith says in his official bio, “a little tiny career that works so well.”

He’s right, if a bit modest. For more than 30 years, Eaglesmith has slowly, steadily carved out an impressive canon of songs, even if he’s not a household name unless you closely follow the world of roots-rock, alt-country, Americana or whatever you want to call it.

The native Canadian writes exactly the kinds of tunes that have made huge stars out of other men. Songs such as “Time To Get A Gun,” “I Like Trains,” and “Alcohol & Pills” are crammed with perfect melodies and clever turns of phrase that have prompted folks like Toby Keith to record Eaglesmith’s songs, and Martin Scorsese to use his work in film projects.

The most recent of his 17 albums, called “Tinderbox” and released last year, was recently nominated for a Juno Award (aka Canadian Grammy). The New Yorker’s Ben Greenman called it “among his strongest records to date, with equal parts darkness and faith.

“Imagine a duet record from Tom Waits and Woody Guthrie,” Greenman wrote. “Now stop imagining that. It’s not going to happen. Try this instead.”

Eaglesmith’s concert in Sisters on Monday is part of the Harmony House Concert Series, and you know what that means: limited seating. Harmony House honcho Katie Cavanaugh figures about 100 people will be able to get in, so if you want to see an exceptional, engrossing songwriter perform what feels like a personal show just for you, you’d better get on it.

Fred Eaglesmith ; 4 p.m. Monday, doors open 3:30 p.m.; $15 suggested donation in advance, $20 at the door if space is available. Call 541-548-2209 for tickets and directions; 18137 Fadjur Lane, Sisters; 541-548-2209.
