Indoor soccer center to close, then reopen

Published: May 09. 2009 4:00AM PST

The Central Oregon Indoor Soccer Center, located at 63076 N.E. 18th St. in Bend, is closing Tuesday but will reopen May 18 under new management.

Chris Casad, the facility’s general manager, said the owner of the company that runs the facility has been unable to sell the business and is closing it. But the building’s owner, Freund/Spencer Investment Group LLC of Bend, plans to reopen the 24,000-square-foot facility under the new name of Cascade Indoor Soccer Center, and the facility’s four current employees will keep their jobs, Casad said. A Freund/Spencer representative could not be reached for comment Friday.

Casad said the owners plan to restore the building this summer and potentially install a new playing surface. The facility opened in 2002 and has been home to as many as 130 indoor soccer league teams each winter, Casad said. It also hosts lacrosse games, roller derby matches and training events.
