Sept. 21, 1915 - Jan. 4, 2009
Elayne passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 4, 2009. She was an amazing and radiant 93 years old. She was the third of four daughters born to Arthur and Pearl Darling Rosenkranz in Lidgerwood, North Dakota.
At age 6, her family moved to California. She graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland in 1933.
Elayne married Walter C. Miller in 1941 and they raised one daughter, Janice Elayne, in San Diego. Walter passed away suddenly in 1965. Elayne married Rene Angus and they settled in Newport Beach, California until he retired. They moved to Redmond, Oregon in 1982 to be near their family.
Elayne was a passionate and talented musician who played the organ for churches in San Diego for 15 years and most recently for several years at Community Presbyterian Church in Redmond. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her sense of humor earned her the nickname "Funny Grandma" by her grandchildren who never called her anything else for the rest of her lifetime. She brought much joy and laughter to her family with her crazy drawings and highly original poetry. She will be missed desperately by those who loved her. Her family is grateful to God that she was never a crabby old woman and lived a life filled with righteous values and compassion for others less fortunate.
Elayne is survived by her loving husband, Rene, her daughter, Jan Anderson and son-in-law, Jim Pierce of Redmond, her granddaughter, Erika Wagner and her husband, Todd and two great- grandchildren, Gavin and Serena of Ione, California, and her grandson, Michael Anderson of Bend, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and her three sisters, Jane, Grace and Pearlie.
The family would especially like to recognize and thank the fabulous staff at Cougar Springs for their loving care of Elayne during her final months and to Hospice of Central Oregon for allowing Elayne to pass away peacefully free of pain. Contributions in her name to Hospice would be gratefully accepted.
A private graveside service for family and close friends is planned for Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
