How many local recordings have been derailed by lack of funds? Lots. Lots and lots. Studio time can be pricey! Here’s the thing to remember: A solid four-, five- or six-track EP is always better than a half-good 12-track album, especially your first time out. Several locals turned out terrific compact discs in 2008. Mosley Wotta’s four songs on “Scrap Mettle” and Ryan Mellon’s five on “The Scandia Demo” were all solid as a rock. EPs by At The Harvest, Reed Thomas Lawrence and Adventure Galley also focused on quality over quantity, proving it’s better to spend your time savoring the music than hitting the “>>” button.
