It was Kent Couch’s third try, and this time, he got a little closer to his goal.
The gas station owner flew his lawn chair, carried by 150 balloons, from Bend to Cambridge, Idaho, 235 miles away. He had hoped to reach Boise.
According to family friend Mark Knowles, Couch, 48, landed in a farm field about 4 p.m., and the farmers were excited to see him.
“They were super friendly, super nice,” Knowles said. “They welcomed him with open arms.”
And unlike last year, when Couch landed in a small Eastern Oregon town, and his chair and other possessions floated away, this time he successfully landed his chair, hanging on to all his gear. View the video.
