Alex Daniel Molnar, of Bend, died Sept. 18 of natural causes. He was 82.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Redmond Christian Church.

Mr. Molnar was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Ovalinda, Pa., to Joseph and Elizabeth Molnar. He married Tillie Molnar on Aug. 24, 1946, in St. Michael, Pa.

Mr. Molnar served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a coal miner. He was a member of the Mason Cornerstone Lodge No. 659, and he was a past lodge master of the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons in Brea, Calif. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel, of Bend; a daughter, Sandra Gonzales, of Powell Butte; a brother, John, of Lynn-ville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Mazza, of North Carolina, and Betty Long, of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, a stepbrother and a stepsister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Foundation, 2500 N.E. Neff Road, Bend, OR 97701.

Deschutes Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
