Joe Kline is a photographer at The Bulletin. He spends his time behind a lens looking for nice light and the telling moments of daily life in Central Oregon. He developed a love of photography in high school and a passion for visual storytelling while furthering his studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology. After five years exploring Idaho as a staff photographer for a daily newspaper in the eastern part of the state, Joe moved to Bend to continue documenting life in the incredible surroundings of the Western U.S.

Potter John Kinder, of Bend, loads clay bowls into a kiln for a glaze firing on Thursday at the Art Station in Bend. His work will be part of the Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser for NeighborImpact, on Sunday at Central Oregon Community College. Paul Arney, owner and brewer of the Ale Apothecary in Bend, has made a kuurna, a hand-carved wooden trough used for brewing a traditional Finnish beer called Sahti.
