Hillary Borrud (Reporter)

Hillary Borrud has been The Bulletin's City Hall reporter since 2012. She produces document- and data-driven investigations for the city desk, in addition to breaking daily stories. Her work has uncovered a secret government meeting that violated state public meetings law, and highlighted city infrastructure problems that make large swaths of Bend inaccessible to people with disabilities.

Borrud previously covered Deschutes County government for The Bulletin, and broke an award-winning story on a California congressman who quietly purchased multiple subdivisions in the area after the real estate market crashed. Borrud is a native Oregonian, but work and education have taken her around the nation, including to Los Angeles where she worked as a waitress in the diner where a scene in Reservoir Dogs was filmed.
